This 1955 Bowman Complete Set includes all 320 cards, and was the last baseball card set issued by the Bowman Gum Company and is easily recognized by the television set framing each player's color photograph. The 1955 Bowman Set contains 31 Hall-of-Famers, five of which were umpires. The 1955 Bowman baseball cards measure approximately 2 inches by 3 inches, but the width of the cards can vary by as much a 1/4 inch.
The 1955 Bowman high number series of cards (225-320) are much more difficult to find and expensive to collect. This series features a subset of umpires, which today are the scarcest cards in the set, not only because less were printed, but also because many were discarded by disappointed kids, who were hoping to find cards of players.
